4. What’s the difference between a standard and extended physiotherapy appointment?
At Lokahi Healthcare, every appointment is personalised but the length of time can affect how much we’re able to cover in a single session.
-
In a 45-minute standard session, we typically focus on one or two key areas of concern. This could include reassessment of your area of pain, hands-on treatment (like manual therapy or dry needling) and guided exercise or movement work. It’s great for follow-up appointments or ongoing treatment for a specific issue.
-
A 1 hour extended session allows for a more in-depth approach. This might include a more thorough assessment, hands-on treatment (like manual therapy or dry needling), additional time for exercise-based rehab and movement retraining. It’s especially beneficial if you’re dealing with multiple issues, a complex condition or you're new to physiotherapy and want time to fully explore your concerns.

Both session types are designed to be effective and you’ll still receive high-quality care no matter the length. If you’re unsure which is right for you, we’re happy to help guide your decision based on your goals and needs.

5. What should I wear to my physiotherapy sessions?
Wear comfortable clothing that allows easy movement and access to the area being treated. We recommend bringing athletic shoes and any relevant medical reports or imaging results to assist in the assessment process.
